We Must All Nurture Creativity

Submitted by Christian Nally on Sun, 2008-01-20 00:38.

My own education halted in high school, even though it went on for another dozen years or so. Certainly much of that problem was my fault, I had a serious attitude problem. :-)

Lately I've been contemplating re-starting my education by becoming a volunteer teacher/co-ordinator of a course based loosely around the International Baccalaureate's Theory of Knowledge.

What joy then, when I was put onto
the following video by Ken Robinson about creativity, "ADHD", and the effect of the school system.

Zero Inbox, Gmail

Someone tried to tell me over a year ago that I needed to have an empty inbox, and it's taken me until now to hear him.

Global Poverty and Strategy Refining Data

Submitted by Christian Nally on Tue, 2008-01-01 02:13.

Ready to have your world view changed, with a video about the statistics of poverty, even though that video is already more than a year old? :-) [ ok, so I'm late to the party on this one. ]

Hans Rosling, demonstrates why policy makers should be thinking about each place in the world with a fine toothed comb.

UPDATE: also a must see... the follow-up talk in 2007.

Pointed out to me by Ernest at AMG Media, it's a video in the venerable TED Series that should be required watching for everyone.

I wish mainstream journalism would take up this method of showing information. Has anyone seen any good examples of statistics-meets-understanding in the mainstream media? Do let me know if anything along those lines pops to mind.
