OpenIDTo celebrate the opening of this blog to public comments, I have but one simple question for the masses of folks reading this blog. ;-) Which OpenID service provider will you choose for your main on-line identities? Why? Is it that the OpenID provider you use will say as much about you as the shirts you choose to wear? Please let me know your reasoning in the comments section below.

There's only one choice for true geeks, isn't there?
I'm going to be my own OpenID provider for a few simple reasons:
1. Like most geeks, I've invested in my own domain and want the vanity that comes along with using it for ID.
2. Because becoming one's own provider affords an opportunity to experiment with technology (though it was astoundingly easy).
3. Because with the great tools and libs referenced at openID.net, anyone with a domain, a web server, and a PHP installation can do it.
4. While I'm excited to see lots of big companies offering to serve OpenIDs, I'm disappointed at how few of them ACCEPT OpenIDs for logins to their services (e.g. Yahoo!).
5. I want the flexibility to move servers, providers, and platforms that I don't get by relying on a big provider that wants to "own" my identity themselves.
That was me
That comment was from me, BTW, but the captcha bug got in the way of my credentials somehow.
Maybe instillanarchy.com should support OpenID so this doesn't happen? :-)
