It's hard to beat the bicycle

In trying to get boots on the ground at some random point on the planet as quickly as possible, there's the old phrase "it's hard to beat the bicycle". That phrase is meant to point out that a quick phone call to someone in the 'hood is usually the fastest way to get someone on scene, be they paramedics, or paparazzi.
I responded to a first responder call today, and proved that adage in spades. It is indeed hard to beat the bicycle.
The call was for my street. My car is in the shop. There was no point whatsoever in my biking to the firehall first. That's way to far to have done any good.
